Battlegroup Kustrin

This book presents a series of World War Two wargame scenarios based on the campaign of January to March 1945 around the town of Küstrin in Germany until its eventual fall to the Red Army. The scenarios are all aimed to be played on average sized wargames tables and with forces that range from a few squads up to a couple of platoons per side and using the Battlegroup rule system.

The last few months of the war in Europe, on both the Western and Eastern front, offers much for the wargamer in terms of historical scenarios to re-fight. They are not always the one-sided affairs that wargamers might expect from this period of the war and often offer up unique and interesting forces, providing both interesting gaming and modelling opportunities. Küstrin offers a number of esoteric items – from the rag-tag Volkssturm units to Hungarian Infantry, to Soviets using lend-lease equipment to King Tigers, to Josef Stalin 2s, to 105mm Flak guns and all manner of defences. This period of the war has an awful lot to offer the gamer compared to the usual fare of ‘Normandy’ games.

With these scenarios for Küstrin you can follow the course of the siege and see how you do in defence, or indeed, in assault of the besieged town.
